Last month I was honoured to be invited by the Islamic Finance Capacity and Advisory Bureau (IFCAB) Islamic Finance Capacity and Advisory Bureau (IFCAB) to deliver their special guest session for their Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ) training programme, which I delivered online from the blessed city of Madinah.

I chose to speak on Shariah Governance in the Islamic finance industry and how it has changed for the better especially in the GCC in recent years due to more active regulation. We discussed the impact of the Higher Shariah Authority (HSA) on Shariah Governance within the UAE especially in terms of enhancing the independence of Shariah Committee members and internal Shariah experts.

The participants were from all over the globe and were very lively. They had many questions related to Shariah Governance and Islamic finance in general. The session was expertly moderated by the CEO of IFCAB, Najib Al Aswad.

Grateful for the invitation from IFCAB and hope to participate again in future inshaAllah. May Allah accept it from all. Ameen.
