About ME

I was born and raised in the UK & went to Secondary School in Harare, Zimbabwe. During my time in Zimbabwe, I witnessed the economic turmoil the country went through as well as the income disparity which existed among various segments of society. At the same time I became more interested in learning about Islam after spending time with some of the local people of knowledge and thus opted to travel abroad to learn more about my religion and to learn about what it has to offer as an alternative and solution to the current economic challenges facing us today.

I am a passionate Student of Knowledge and have benefited from prominent Shariah Scholars, Islamic Economists & Islamic Bankers, academically as well as practically. I have over a decade of international experience working in Shariah Departments (Advisory, Review, Audit & Training) of reputable Islamic institutions in KL, London, Abu Dhabi (Al Hilal Bank), Dubai (Dubai Islamic Bank) & Riyadh (Albilad Capital). I most recently served as a full-time Senior Shariah Advisor in the Shariah Department at Albilad Capital, a fully fledged Investment Bank in KSA. Besides working as a Shariah Advisor, I am the Founder of RIZQONOMICS, an Islamic Economics & Finance Education Inititative.

I completed a Bachelors Degree (Honours) specialising in Islamic Economics & Finance (Best Student in Islamic Economics Award) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), a Bachelors Degree (Honours) specialising in Shariah (Fiqh & Usul al-Fiqh) from Al-Madinah International University (Malaysia) and a Masters (CIFP) specialising in Islamic Finance from INCEIF (Malaysia). I am a Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA) from AAOIFI and I am currently enrolled as a PhD student at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

Additionally, I have sought and continue to seek knowledge of various Islamic sciences traditionally from various Students of Knowledge and Shariah Scholars in Malaysia, Yemen, UAE & KSA.
