I was invited to attend a breakfast roundtable at the House of Lords arranged by Gatehouse Bank. The topic of discussion was ‘Islamic Finance: Unlocking UK Growth’ .
As various stakeholders participated in the event, it was interesting to hear the different challenges facing the Islamic finance industry in the UK from regulatory, tax, legal and even political perspectives. At the event, Gatehouse Bank launched a research report which looks at the Islamic finance landscape in the UK compared to other jurisdictions and contains four recommendations.
