Alhamdulillah, honoured to join Alshubaily Law Firm (Alshubaily Law Firm) as a Shariah Advisor and once again have the opportunity to work with our Ustadh and Sheikh, Dr. Yousef Alshubaily, someone that I’ve previously had the privilege of working closely with and benefiting directly from for many years at different Islamic Financial Institutions when I was based in the Gulf.
Although most Shariah graduates, especially the ones in Islamic finance, would definitely have heard of Sheikh Yousef, for those of different specialisations, the Sheikh is a renowned Senior Shariah Scholar especially in the area of contemporary finance. Over the years he has been either Chairman or Member of Shariah Committees of numerous prominent institutions both in KSA and abroad, such as the main AAOIFI Shariah Committee, Bank Albilad, Alinma Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank, CIMB Islamic and many more. He was also a member of the team in the Judicial Legislation Committee that worked on the Saudi Civil Transactions Law that was issued in 2023.
Sheikh Yousef has been a Professor at the Higher Judicial Institute at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh for many years and supervised numerous PhD and Masters theses. He is a prolific researcher, with much of his Shariah research published by various institutions. Despite so many achievements and being an ocean of knowledge, anyone who has met him or studied with him, will tell you how humble he is, as is typical of many of our Senior Scholars.
