If you have the opportunity to study or work abroad then its something that I highly recommend even if only for a short period of time. Living abroad broadens your horizons and opens up your mind as you interact with people from different walks of life. You get to learn about different cultures and appreciate the complexity of each.
You end up having to try different cuisines and making new friends. Studying with different teachers enables you to understand differences of opinion. You learn to adapt and deal with any problems that arise. You realise that no place on earth is perfect and each society has its own unique challenges.
